2024-2025
It’s been almost 15 months since my final move to Montevideo, Uruguay. There has been ups and downs, but I’m still proud of my decision to move here. I miss my Austin friends, HEB and curbside pickup, the amazing breweries and beer selection, corn tortillas and salsa Doña, SXSW live music shows and BBQ. But Montevideo has been a good home for me, and I’m enjoying what the city has to offer.
I was layoff from my job at NI back in December 2023 and it took me a few months to land on a job I was excited about. I started teaching at UTU a class called Fundamentos STEAM and my students were amazing. For the second semester we divided the class into teams, and each team worked on a project putting into practice everything they learn so far.

In addition to that job, last December I started doing independent software development consulting for a startup in Austin, so now I have a very solid financial situation and don’t have to worry about “eating” my savings.
Favorite things about Montevideo so far are: la Rambla, la playa, La Paloma, los partidos de fútbol 5v5 en Bullsoccer, los juegos de volley playero en Playa Pocitos, las reuniones de Couch Surfing, los domingos en El Imperio, y las cervecerías Sumo, Indica y Malafama. Y los amigos. Muchos amigos. 🇺🇾
